For sale is an exceptional 1952 Mercedes-Benz 170 S Cabriolet A in absolute museum condition. The two-seater top model of the 170 S series combines great rarity with a remarkably high-quality, originality-focused restoration and a special history.

Initial delivery took place in Casablanca. The Mercedes-Benz data card is available. Later, the vehicle was owned by a wealthy and extremely discerning collector who had the convertible restored with the involvement of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. Highest priority was placed on originality, craftsmanship, and in particular exceptionally precise panel gaps and fitment.

The current owner was also specifically looking for an outstanding example: Before purchasing, he inspected seven different 170 S Cabriolet A models across Europe and found this vehicle to be by far the most compelling.

After World War II, Mercedes-Benz developed the larger, wider, and more comfortably equipped 170 S based on the 170 V. It was the first model to carry the "S" suffix, which later became defining for the brand's luxury class. Alongside the saloon and four-seater Cabriolet B, the two-seater Cabriolet A formed the pinnacle of the model range. Only 830 units were produced over three years; according to one source, around 220 vehicles still exist worldwide today. Another characteristic feature is the elaborate traditional construction with a wooden frame and metal body.

The red interior is assessed as very well maintained; upholstery, dash, instruments, and seat covers are described as original in the report. Instruments and switches are fully functional. Chrome and trim parts are complete, original, and in very good condition. Glazing and seals are also in flawless condition; the trunk is clean and well maintained.

The black convertible soft top is also in very good condition, both visually and technically. Fabric cover, soft top frame, locking mechanism, hinges, and bearings were assessed without noticeable damage or signs of wear. As part of the evaluation, an engine test run and test drive were conducted; a vehicle lift was available for inspecting the underbody.
